this was the absolute best article I read here so far. so good that I even read most of it out loud ! the quotes at the beginning, the (so very accurate) lists, the general pace of the text — so poetic and true and relatable. thank you❤️‍🩹

The pressure to go outside and visibly enjoy oneself when it’s sunny is REAL.

This is one of the best things I've ever ever read. Thank you for these beautiful words. Here's to the best summer yet because of these words and the freedom they encourage.

That Dolly Alderton quote about being asked how your summer is going - that hit me like a TON of bricks. It's so true and to know I am not the only one who feels that way is incredibly comforting. Cheers to the Summer we want, not the summer we are told to have. :) Love this Hannah!

This is absolutely beautiful 🩷🩷 the pressure I put on my summers to be perfect always just ends up spoiling them. This year, I just want to embrace whatever my summer will look like without trying to mold it into something it’s not

wow I loved this so much :) I am about to have a very low-key summer spent writing too, and this really made me feel more secure that I don't need to be going to the beach, going out, etc. too. I can just relax and write!

Beautiful dead-on analysis of summer (I don't care for summer).

I DO REMEMBER my swim lessons, because they were in the morning, and it was cold.

It asks: how carefree are you? How beautiful? How thin? How sociable and popular and nonchalant? - THIS! It’s the pressure to be seen but be so in the moment living life that you don’t realise you’re being seen. As if the more you do/accomplish in a summer draws a veil of sepia toned nostalgia further and further over your life, and if you end the summer with next to none, you’ve failed.

“That our bodies are miraculous and our lives are short and that we are so wonderfully lucky to be able to experience the myriad of things that we do.” this (& this entire piece) is the energy i’ve been carrying so far this year & it’s quite incredible how your life can totally shift for the better, once you have a perspective like this 😌🙌🏽✨
